Originally a Registered General Nurse, I am also a qualified Pilates instructor (CYQ level 3) in matwork and equipment.
After sustaining a back injury in my 20s, and putting up with the niggles and discomfort for a long time, I tried pilates to see if it helped. It didn’t take long before I was hooked and started to really feel the benefits. Not just a reduction in back pain, but my body felt stronger, more toned and my posture improved. I ran better too!
20 years on, as a breast cancer survivor, I have a different personal experience of how beneficial pilates can be when recuperating from a serious illness and the benefits a well balanced body can bring. Having trained as a Pink Ribbon Program instructor I am a certified Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist, and know first hand how difficult it is to begin an exercise program post-operatively. The many benefits of the Pink Ribbon Program include helping to regain strength and mobility in the affected shoulder and arm, enhancing physical and mental well-being and improving self confidence.
